Former "Spin City" star Alan Ruck will make life hell for one of the doctors on "Scrubs" later this season.

Ruck will play Mr. Bragin, a cancer patient being treated by Elliot (Sarah Chalke), in an episode scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5. His initial prognosis is bad, and she tells him that he will most likely die.

When his cancer goes into remission, however, Elliot admits she misdiagnosed him -- which causes Bragin to sue her.

Ruck, who played chief of staff Stuart Bondek on "Spin City," is the second cast member from that show to sign on for a guest role on "Scrubs." Heather Locklear, who played Caitlin Moore on the ABC show, begins a two-episode stint Thursday (Nov. 7).

It's no coincidence, either -- "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence is a former writer and executive producer of "Spin City."

Ruck first gained fame as Ferris' (Matthew Broderick) best friend Cameron in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." He's also appeared in "Speed," "Twister" and the HBO miniseries "From the Earth to the Moon."
